Did you know that being electronically challenged is 'catching'? For whatever reason, John plugged his blackberry into his computer, maybe to charge it? The program, Desktop Manager, said there were updates to install so he clicked yes. Now, in my experience, that is a VERY bad idea. Updates are not always a good thing and I have the mangled electronics to prove it. As the update starts, his blackberry turns off and when he tries to turn it on, it just stays blank. Four hours later, the update is not complete and his blackberry is dead. I have an extra blackberry, so he wants to use it to call his friends as he does not have their phone numbers saved anywhere else. I dig it out, dead battery. He swaps the sim cards and tries to call, nothing. Has Katie call it, goes directly to voice mail, I call it, voice mail. He calls me and it comes up the other number. He goes back to his room, thinking he has mixed up the sim cards and tries again. Still doesn't work. He it rather upset as I was able to swap sims on my phone.
Then he has the brilliant idea of swapping the sim from his old cell, that doesn't work as this is the US, I remind him. Sims are phone specific here. I finally tell him to give me the phones and I will try. I pop the backs off and slid out the sim and he says "Oh, is that the sim?" I swapped out the other thing. I say, you mean you swapped out the little card that says 16G instead of the one that says sim? He grumbles and then says, it isn't working. I remind him to be patient. Finally it works, the sims have been successfully swapped.
Now I get to pop over to crackberry and figure out what "Reload software :507" means, as that is all that his blackberry now says.
